Moana Review

I am Moana...sadly I'm not, but after watching Disney's live action  Moana (2026, Thomas Kail) , I want to be. Over the past ten years or so Disney have been reimagining their animated classics, whilst fans eagerly await the next film to be remade critic's tend to react less favourably. Even those critics cannot deny that there is something about Disney magic that is captivating. These reimagined films invoke a sense of nostalgia whilst delivering a fresh perspective. Unlike most of the remakes,  Moana (2016, John Musker and Ron Clements) , only hit cinema's ten years ago, it has barely aged, so updates to views, characters and storylines would be unnecessary. That being said there is a certain charm to  Moana  that is fully captured in this reimagining. Read on for my full review.  There is one potential issue with the film, so let's get that out of the way now because every single review is going to touch on this. This live action  Moa...

Movie Artwork by Shannon

Hi everyone! I have a different sort of post for you all today, which I hope you enjoy. Recently I've given my room a major makeover in the hope it will help inspire my blogging and writing. A couple of weeks ago I realised that I needed some artwork for the very bare walls (totally uninspiring) so I put a little tweet out asking for movie style artwork (because we should all be supporting small businesses) and I got lucky! Little did I know that my friend Shannon is actually an incredibly talented artist and a lot of her work is movie related. So I wanted to share her work with you!!
The Image above is the magical piece Shannon designed for me. Tangled (2010) is my faviourte Disney princess movie and Rapunzel's creativity and enthusiasm is super inspirational. As you can see the artwork is completely original and unique in its design, it captures the magic of Tangled, Rapunzel and Flynn - I LOVE IT!! I decided to ask Shannon a few questions about her work so read on to discover more - all the imagines in this post were created by Shannon!! (maybe you'll have Shannon's work on your wall one day too).

What Inspired you to start creating?

I wouldn't say there was one particular thing, but I kept seeing cool movie posters and digital art that I liked but didn't want to pay high prices for them knowing that with some practice I could do it myself. From there it was just practice makes perfect, I guess? Now I try and create often, and recreating movie posters is the easiest way to do this as you can design them anyway you like and take inspiration from other films and art.

Do you plan to open an online store? If so when?

I would like to open a little Etsy shop, but I need to make sure I have a good back catalogue of prints and posters before I do! When I've got that behind me then I'll start to shout about it a bit more!

Why Do you love movies?

I love going to the cinema!! Some films you really just have to experience in the cinema, it makes them a 1000 times better! I used to watch films and enjoy them for storylines etc but now I've watched so many and so many different ones I love looking deeper into them and the way they've been made, it's given me more appreciation for the art!

What is your favourite film or films of all time?

My all-time favourite film is Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards (2009). I don't really know particularly why exactly but I could watch that film again and again and again and still love it like the first watch! Other than that, I really enjoy a good war film or a 'based on a true story' film!

Who is your favourite Disney Princess?

She's not a princess as such but I feel like she counts; Meg from Hercules (1997)!
So, there you have it! Keep an eye out as I'll let you know when Shannon has a shop up and running! I hope you love her work as much as I do! Make sure you give Shannon a follow on twitter: @ShannonStewart

Thank you for reading xx

  1. The first movie has a well catchy imagine, but I haven't seen it, unfortunately. It seems good list and might have some times to watch.
